Innovative Reheat Furnace Management
Targeted reheating and heat treatment at high temperatures are of crucial importance for the production of high-quality metal products with defined material properties. The reheating furnaces are usually operated with a fuel gas surplus. This leads to unnecessarily high energy costs and CO2 emissions. This research project focuses on lowering energy costs and assuring product quality by undertaking a series of improvements. This research project focuses on lowering energy costs and assuring product quality by undertaking a series of improvements (innovative furnace management concept with continuous burn-out measuring system, new understoichiometric burner with forced burn-out, and more appropriate transport rollers made from new materials for transporting the charged stock) on the preheating furnace.
